Project: Investment climate reform for economic diversification and competitiveness

Project overview
As part of a consultancy project funded by the World Bank Group, Reformatics actively supported the Botswanan government’s efforts to design, plan and communicate reforms aimed at improving the country’s score in the World Bank’s annual ‘Doing Business’ (DB) ranking.

Our group of experts worked closely with representatives of relevant government agencies to develop a reform roadmap and a detailed action plan encompassing reforms in all ten areas covered by the DB report. Reformatics’ recommendations were targeted and specific to the local context, and the firm also provided a strategy to improve the government’s ability to successfully communicate its reform policies to both the local population as well as to international investors and financial institutions.

Côte d’Ivoire

Period: July 2015—September 2015

Project: Designing and planning regulatory reforms aimed at improving Cote d’Ivoire’s ranking in the World Bank’s 2017 ‘Doing Business’ report and at streamlining government service delivery

Project overview
Reformatics was commissioned to actively assist and support the Ivorian government’s efforts to plan and design a series of reforms to improve the country’s ranking in the World Bank’s 2017 ‘Doing Business’ report. Our group of experts also advised various Ivorian government agencies, with whom they jointly explored the government’s maximum potential and capacity for the active reform and improvement of Cote d’Ivoire’s business environment.

Reformatics carried out a detailed analysis of the country’s DB performance and relevant legislative basis, and produced a series of recommendations for future reform initiatives aimed at introducing ‘one-window’ public service delivery wherever possible and improving service delivery in areas relevant to the DB report.

Reformatics’ recommendations were subsequently incorporated into the Ivorian government’s annual DB reform plan.

A country of Eastern Africa

Period: January 2015—June 2015

Project: Reformatics was commissioned by the Eastern African government to provide, in collaboration with McKinsey & Company, a series of recommendations for the reform and improvement of the ranking in the World Bank’s ‘Doing Business’ report.

Reformatics was commissioned by the Eastern African government to provide, in collaboration with McKinsey & Company, a series of recommendations for the reform and improvement of the ranking in the World Bank’s ‘Doing Business’ report.

Our consultants produced a thorough review of both the DB ranking as well as existing legislation and implementation practice, based upon which Reformatics drafted a series of targeted and specific recommendations aimed at improving the country's performance.

Reformatics’ efforts resulted in the improvement of the country's DB environment, as reflected in the progress the country made in the ranking: an improvement of more than 20 places in a year.
